Happy Scatter Guest Designer!

Hello, yes it's been a while again!  I've been flat out with my new part time job, and busy creating layouts for Artfull Crafts (to be shared soon).

I'm so excited to announce that I am one of the three chosen guest designers over at Jennifer Grace Creates for her new venture "Happy Scatter".  You can find the introductory post on her blog here.

Jennifer has gorgeous products in her Etzy shop which you can find here.  She has some gorgeous products, including the following which were released in January.

She also released some new products in February so you should definitely head on over to her shop and check them out!

I can't wait to share what I create.  Check back in a few weeks!

Everyday (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello!  Today it's the reveal for the 3rd sketch of February over at Lets Get Sketchy and this week we have an amazing sketch by Probyte (Shirley).  I'm a little late here on my blog because I wanted to include my process video :)

I would have to say that the best thing about this sketch was the fun bow!  Now this doesn't have to be a bow, its really indicating a large embellishment, but because I loved it so much I went with it!  I have a manual die that cuts a bow, but I decided to make a real bow from ribbon.

My layout is all about my baby when she permanently wore a bib and how she used to wear it like a cape!  I used my January Hip Kit and the bow and doily are from my stash.

The bow is made from ribbon that I saved from a parcel wrapping.

Literally love that woodgrain tag from Crate Paper.  I cut part of the heart to place it over my photo.

A close up of my watercolouring!

And here is the fantastic sketch:

Best Ever Layout & December Hip Kit Layouts

Hello again!  Yes I'm back again so soon ;)

Today I'm sharing a layout about my son getting an award at school prize giving in December last year.  He won the Care Bear award for being a student who always cares for others.  He is such a lovely boy!

This layout was inspired by the Amy Tangerine kraft frame with the little heart, so I sized my rectangles off it.  I wanted to focus on layering and grids for this one, but have it more masculine.  I wasn't entirely happy with the gelatos in the background, so I toned them down with white acrylic paint.

This layout took a very long time, so when I edited the process video I trimmed a lot out!  You can watch it below or on my YouTube channel.

And if you would like to see all of the layouts I made with my December Hip Kit, you can see them in this walk-through video.

Thanks for looking!  Have an awesome Valentines weekend!

"Merci" Mini Album

Hello!  Yes it's been a while . . .  I haven't disappeared, I've just been busy as I started back working this week.  Things have been a juggle balancing family, work and church, but it has been awesome to use my logical work brain!  I work from home while Brielle sleeps, so now its a case of telling myself to leave the housework, and get work done.

I've been active on YouTube because I prepared some videos ahead, including what I'm sharing with you today.  This album is a grateful/thankful album, and I made it with scraps from my December Hip Kit (I'm happy to report that I've already made three layouts with my January kit!).   I was inspired to make it because of the "Merci" thicker title, and because I needed to remind myself of the things in my life to be thankful for.

I'm only sharing the cover, because the inside journalling is very personal, however you can watch it on my YouTube channel where I do a walkthrough of the inside.

I added some bits and pieces from my stash too, and it felt awesome to be using up some product!

Here is the video:

Thanks for looking, I'll be back real soon!

Three More Layouts (Hip Kit Club)

Hello!  Can you believe that it snowed on the mountains here yesterday!  Autumn doesn't officially start until March, so it was a shock to have to get out our Winter clothes for a day.

Today I have three layouts to share that I made with my December Hip Kit.  I've been working really hard to kill this kit, and I'm nearly there!

The first layout is about my darling girls and I.  Amazingly I used a circle cutting tool that my mother in law got me about 5 years ago, and this is the first time I've opened it and used it!  Shocking I know!  I hand stitched around the circle.

This second layout is also made with the circle cutter.  I originally cut some circles randomly on a sheet of Kraft cardstock, and then I backed them with patterned paper.  Then I decided to sew around the circles with my sewing machine, very much in the style of Paige Evans, except sewing circles is an art in itself.  So I didn't want to waste the papers, so I did some "layout surgery" and cut the circles out keeping kraft borders.  Then this layout evolved.  Its all about Brielle and the first time she got onto her knees and took the candle off the bookshelf!

This final layout is all about capturing Azaria smiling with her teeth!  I managed to take these photos of her showing her way of smiling (with mouth closed) and a smile showing her teeth.  This is probably my favourite layout from all that I created with my December kit.

I have a process video for this one too.

Thanks for looking!

3 Months (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello! Can you believe its February already!  Well that means another reveal over at Lets Get Sketchy,  and this week we had a really fun sketch by Jenessa Franco to work with.

I decided to scrap a second page of Brielle's 3 month photo shoot, and this layout will go next to my previous LGS layout two weeks ago.  I used Websters Pages Sweet Routine collection, and some gold tissue paper from my stash.  The letter stickers are really old Kaisercraft, like 4 years old!  Hooray for using up older product!

I started by spraying a large doily with Heidi Swapp Colour Shine to add some visual interest, as I knew I wanted to keep this layout simple, to focus on my darling baby girl.

These embellishments are made from the punching out the patterned paper and cutting up the journalling card.

I also added in some washi tape from my stash.

And of course no layout is complete without some India ink.

I also made a process video for this one.

I'd love to see what you make with this sketch.

A Paper Inspired Layout - Love (Hip Kit)

Hello, today I want to share a layout that I made with my December Hip Kit that was entirely inspired by the one piece of paper.  I wanted to make a layout focusing on using the Amy Tangerine Stitched collection in the kit.

The paper that inspired the layout was the world map paper with falling hearts, and my vision was to have the hearts continue to fall onto the white cardstock.  I kept the embellishment simple, and only used blue and green accents.  The photo is of my kids and I at a local resort.

Some close ups of the details.  I used the Stitched ephemera, rub-ons, Evalicious puffy stickers and Elles Studio wood veneer.

I cut out the hearts from the remainder of the paper.

Here is a process video which you can either watch below or on my YouTube channel.

Right Here - Grids and Layers

Hello,  well I've been having such a fun time working with my December Hip Kit over the past two weeks.  I'm trying to kill it so I can get onto all the Dear Lizzy goodies in the January kit, and get caught up before my February kit arrives (#firstworldproblems lol!).

I've been trying to push myself, and make layouts that aren't just my usual layered style, but for this layout I wanted to combine layering with a grid design.  I chose two photos of Azaria, taken when she showed me where she plays at school lunch breaks when we went down to the lake one Saturday.

And some close ups:

Lovely layers:

So great to get that wooden frame from Paper Bakery on a layout!

And here is my process video:

Thanks for looking!  Have an awesome weekend :)
